Bringing Direct Donations to Coinbase and Robinhood
By Endaoment
We're excited to announce direct exchange donations—a new way to fund your Endaoment donor-advised fund directly from your Coinbase or Robinhood account.
No wallet required. No copied addresses. No blockchain expertise needed.
Three clicks that let you give anything, from anywhere, to any nonprofit.
Meeting Donors Where They Are
"Can I just give from my Coinbase account?" We heard this question hundreds of times, and often wondered it ourselves. Previously, crypto donors needed a certain level of confidence to copy wallet addresses or navigate their assets on various wallets to donate on Endaoment. For blockchain lovers, this was manageable. For the millions who hold crypto exclusively on centralized exchanges, we know it can be intimidating.
Today, that changes. Direct exchange donations let you donate or fund an Endaoment DAF using the two world-leading platforms you already trust. Connect to your Coinbase or Robinhood account directly within our donation flow, select the asset you want to donate, and confirm. Nearly all major cryptocurrencies on these platforms are supported, roughly 90%. Any barriers—copying addresses, test transactions, gas fees, block explorer anxiety—are officially eliminated.
Under the Hood
Donors authenticate using industry-standard OAuth 2.0—the same secure flow used by any trusted financial application. We maintain read-only access and never touch credentials or make unauthorized transactions. From there, donors view their available crypto balances, choose the asset and amount, and confirm. The entire process takes less than 60 seconds, with instant confirmation and tax receipting.
We leveraged Robinhood Connect and Coinbase's OAuth client for secure connections. Once a donation is made, we receive the crypto from the exchange, route it through our auto-liquidation logic to convert to USDC stablecoins, and distribute to the donor's DAF smart contract address on Base, Ethereum, or Optimism. Exchange-grade encryption protects the entire flow, and no private keys or sensitive data are stored.
Crossing the Chasm
Our crypto-native donors proved onchain philanthropy truly works. We've moved ~$130 million in donations to 1000+ nonproifts. Early Endaoment was built by and for crypto-native donors—the early builders, protocol innovators, and self-custody advocates who jumped first into onchain philanthropy. This integration, however, expands who can give alongside our core donor base.
Coinbase and Robinhood dominate retail crypto trading in the U.S. Many are crypto-friendly but not ready to self-custody—or have chosen to custody at a centralized exchange for their own reasons. This feature meets them where they are.
We're still committed to supporting protocol-native donors who value self-custody. But "permissionless" also means meeting people wherever they are in their crypto journey. Whether you're running your own node, using a hardware wallet, or keeping crypto on an exchange, your philanthropic participation is equally valuable.
Perfect Timing for Year-End Giving
We pushed to launch this during Giving Season, precisely when donors need it most. Remember, you can auto-liquidate contributions immediately or use our sell-over-time feature for strategic tax planning. The flows are designed to be mobile-first—give from your phone while commuting, at a holiday gathering, or while responding to breaking news. No desktop computer or hardware wallet needed.
Even if it's December 31st at 11:45 PM? No need to fumble with wallet apps or worry about gas fees. Just log in and donate with time to spare.
Scaling the Vision
Direct exchange donations expand participation to our crypto-friendly peers. The technical knowledge barrier is gone. If you can log into Coinbase or Robinhood, you can donate.
The potential is substantial. We're opening the door to tens of millions of potential new donors, potentially unlocking billions in philanthropic capital and new orgs, up to receiving that magical donation moment.
What's Next
We never stop shipping (the Brazilians on the team call it being #producteiro). Additional exchange integrations, enhanced token support, and continued mobile optimization are on the roadmap.
Ready to make a gift from Coinbase or Robinhood? The feature is live now. Look for the "Donate from Exchange" option when you're ready to donate or fund a DAF.
