Advisor-Managed DAFs are now live on Altruist

Big news!
Altruist and Endaoment have partnered to bring donor-advised funds right into the platform where advisors already work. Advisors can now lead their clients' giving alongside everything else they manage, with the DAF as a fully managed investment sleeve. You can find the LinkedIn post here.
Why we're (very) excited
This is the Endaoment API doing exactly what we built it to do, at real scale, for one of the industry's most innovative custodians. We want more institutions, custodians, RIA firms, wealthtech platforms, and even nonprofits to create their own DAF programs with us. We see DAFs as a vital part of a thorough wealth strategy and a necessary edge for maintaining long-term connections with clients and their heirs. This partnership sends a clear message to the broader fintech community that DAFs belong alongside every other account type.
What we've opened up
Once a client authorizes it, their advisor can handle the entire DAF workflow: contributions, grant recommendations, and investment portfolios on the client's behalf, all directly in the platform. The client remains engaged in the enjoyable parts, like which causes to support, but can let their advisor lead. We expect richer conversations to follow, about values and legacy and not just the latest performance report.

On the assets
Every contribution is an irrevocable gift to Endaoment as the sponsor. Clients and their advisors recommend grants, and we approve and send them. Meanwhile, the assets stay custodied at Altruist and managed by the advisor, so they never leave the book. Advisors set their own management fee and disclose it to clients separately.
Our part
Our API lets partners offer DAFs as their own product, with us quietly behind the scenes. Advisors and clients never need a second login. As the 501(c)(3) sponsor, we review grant recommendations, send approved grants to nonprofits, and supply Altruist with nonprofit information and tax receipt data. And when a donation, fund, or grant needs the human touch, our Giving Services team helps move it across the finish line.
The result?
Giving becomes part of the plan year-round, not just the thing that happens in December. Client values shape the relationship long before a grant ever goes out, and advisors gain a meaningful new way to connect with the people they serve.
We're thrilled to see Altruist bring giving in line with the rest of the book, and we can't wait to see what advisors do with it.
